Supporting employees in the age of digital transformation roadmap with Dynamics 365 Business Central

According to Microsoft, supporting employees is one of the key components of the digital transformation map, which is based on their new concept of productivity and a data-driven culture.

You can empower your staff by designing the working environment and practices that will enable them to perform their tasks efficiently by using digital resources. As a consequence, what they get is improved comfort of work, greater flexibility and mobility while ensuring the safety of the entire organization.

Empowering staff in modern organization structures

It is not possible to go through the digital transformation process without involvement of employees. Digitalization is progressing more rapidly than the development of employees’ skills and knowledge about new technologies.

80% of companies notice a discrepancy between current skills and future requirements.  IT managers implement strategies aimed at enhancing knowledge about digitalization, as well as expanding roles of employees in implementing new technologies so that the new trend does not affect the condition of the company.

Employees receive support and make efforts to optimize processes and activities that lead to the transformation of products and services.

Change in the concept of employee support

  • Strategic:  Setting objectives related to priorities, people and strategies. Investing in the implementation of the transformation culture that focuses on customers and development.
  • Stimulated through data access:  Making the best use of available data to learn more about employee and streamline the decision-making process.
  • Self-service and simplified processes:  Developing new service delivery principles and HR models. Simplifying work of the HR team by providing new tools for the self-service and standardization of the routine processes.
  • Skills:  Investing in the development of new skills and training.

Providing the working space for remote work, following the Microsoft Japan example

The evolution affected not only working methods but also workplaces. Businesses that are now seeing success on the market are able to fully exploit the potential of mobility and enhance productivity and collaboration of employees while limiting the risk related to the guarantee of freedom and space for further operation. That is why, implementation of the appropriate safeguards does not entail productivity drops.

For Microsoft, technologies supporting remote work are the response to the modern business challenges. With a high level of mobility, it is possible to reduce costs and environmental impact, ensure the continuity of operations and work-life balance, as well as to attract and retain competent staff.

Even though remote working has been promoted in Japan since 1990, many companies still operate in accordance with the long-standing cultural traditions. As a result, the employee adaptation level is much lower. To promote changes, Microsoft Japan launched the Telework Week program aimed at improving the knowledge about mobile and cloud-based technologies among Japanese businesses.

In 2015, 651 partner companies took part in the Telework Week program. All of them had a chance to test and implement Microsoft solutions, as well as to experience the benefits of having reliable access to the cloud-based infrastructure and services. The initiative was quite a success and contributed greatly to raising awareness of employees in the Japanese branch office of Microsoft. Ultimately, the staff made the decision to try out teleworking.

Delivering an engaging human resources experience

While implementing significant changes whose purpose was to meet customer demands, Microsoft adopted a mobility- and “cloud-computing”-based strategy and initiated the reorganization process to adapt the organizational culture to the new strategy.

The objective of the HR Reimagened initiative was to create a cloud-based and self-service payroll portal providing access to crucial data from anywhere at any time. At the same time, a number of applications has been developed to attract employees, support their growth and foster cooperation. By using a new payroll portal, employees are able to update their data and access AskHR – an employee service center, while managers can track and approve payroll operations.

Managers can keep track of key HR insights by using self-service Power BI dashboard providing HR-related data to internal customers.

With the talent assessment methods and a mobile application developed by Microsoft, it is now possible to process data generated during the recruitment procedure and attract millennials to join the process.

During the implementation of the HR Reimagined initiative, new tools and resources were developed.  They are now used by Microsoft employees on a daily basis, which results in productivity increase and costs savings by standardizing on Microsoft Azure.

Digital transformation roadmap – map your journey to engage customers

Knowledge and resources necessary to get to grips with the problem reside already in your organization. Just use them.

You can understand better how your employees use their time by breaking down information barriers in a secure way. By taking the following steps, you can maximize the efficiency of your staff:

  • Cooperation supported by multiple mobile devices.
  • Transformation of business processes in HR and other areas.
  • Making processes easier to use and more intuitive across platforms.
  • New concept of collaboration with Microsoft 365 (Office 365).
